Something Wild (Daughters of the Alpha, #1) By Addison Carmichael

A stunning beauty. A werewolf monster.
A formula that could turn any metal into gold and destroy society as we know it.

What demon is really lurking behind the black mask?

When Tawnya Bryant, eldest daughter of their werewolf’s pack High Alpha, is sent on a covert mission into the Teton Mountains of Wyoming, she had no idea it meant hiding away on a secret ranch run by a mysterious collection of bizarre refugees. Or working directly for its ownerâ€"a brilliant scientist with a moody, volcanic temper who hides every part of his appearance for reasons she can only guess.

Is he really the horrific beast those at Willow Bark Ranch fear?
* * *
It must be some sick, twisted trick his High Alpha is playing on himâ€"to send this stunning temptress with the mind of Einstein to allegedly help him solve a problem that has cursed him and others for decades.

But Professor Philip Heath viciously refuses Tawnya’s much needed assistance and does everything in his power to chase her from his hidden ranch. All but the one thing that would assure her immediate flightâ€"to reveal his true, terrifying form to her.

Even she wouldn’t be able to stand the horror that he had become.

After being with her week after week, however, somehow this young werewolf beauty worked her way underneath his protective iron barriers and won his respect, his trust, his friendship, and most of all his heart.

But love for him comes at too high a cost, one that threatens Tawnya Bryant’s very life. Because the real monster Philip Heath had become was more than furry skin-deep. He had unthinkingly created something that could literally destroy society as we know it.

Something his enemies discovered and will do anything at all to acquire. Something Wild (Daughters of the Alpha, #1)

Something Wild
Phillip Heath is working on a Top-Secret project for his High Alpha. He has almost perfected the Midas formula to turn metal into gold. Then his enemies find him in his laboratory and try to force the information out of him. At the same time Mount St. Helens is about to erupt. He is bound with zip ties and electrical tape. Phillip is threatened by another formula that he developed that forces a partial shift then freezes the were in that. He decides to embrace the change in him to protect his formula. He breaks his restraints and crawls to a bunker as Mount St. Helens erupts. Who could have betrayed he and his High Alpha?
Time has passed, over forty years, and there is a different High Alpha, Jake Bryant. He has called his eldest daughter to his office. He has a task that he wants her to accomplish. Success with this mission will let her dad and the High Council know that she is ready to become the Direct Heir. Tawnya Bryant is the oldest of four daughters. She is eager to prove herself. She is an educated woman, that is somewhat headstrong and impulsive.
Tawnya is sent to a secretive and remote ranch in Montana. There is a mysterious “Professor” and some bird shifters that care for the ranch. The brilliant Professor is reclusive and is always in the shadows and covered from head to toe in clothing. He works in his lab. He needs an assistant.
Tawnya insists on helping. What could he be hiding? Who is he? Against all odds they seem to work well together. They are fighting the attraction to each other. Phillip is reluctant to reveal who and what he is. Could Tawnya love a monster that is partially shifter? Love comes at a price and danger is inevitable. Betrayal comes from an unlikely source. Can they survive?
This is a nice slow burn love story with a lot of mystery and intrigue. I am looking forward to the next book. I loved all the Bryant Family Books: Red Moon Prophecy, then Sons of the Alpha, and now the daughters of the High Alpha. I love me some Bryants. Addison Carmichael Incredibly Good Story . . .

When Professor Philip Wagner Heath develops a “Midas” formula to turn metals into gold, enemies want to steal his work and attack him in the lab. He is dosed with a formula that starts an agonizing shift and then locks the shifter in the partial “monster” appearance of his animal, leaving him with the darker sides of both human and shifter. Before the thieves get what they want and kill the scientist, Mt St Helens erupts. Philip does escape, but has become a recluse, hiding at his ranch and continuing his work, hidden away from everyone. So when the new high alpha, Jacob Bryant, sends his daughter, Tawnya, to the secret ranch in the Teton Mountains of Wyoming, Philip is not happy with the interruption of his work. His work has been going on for decades. How can this beautiful woman possibly assist? Yet getting to know her starts to weaken his barriers.

Tawnya was getting frustrated with the GPS. It seemed like she was moving randomly and maybe even in circles! When it finally took her down a rutted dirt road, full of potholes, she was sure this was some kind of joke and was ready to turn around. When the GPS said, “You have arrived,” she looked around in confusion â€" where? There was no cell service to even call her father and rant. But eventually someone arrived to lead her into a secret hidden ranch. Yet for days, the Professor would not meet her or allow her near his lab. She painstakingly keeps trying to get him to let her in, and one slow step at a time, when he sees she does understand his complex formulas and can honesty help, he starts to allow her in, but with strict, unbendable rules in place. Can the two of them find a way to reverse the damage done that locked him into his beastly form? If they can get the formula to work, they can help the hawk-shifters who were also hurt by those criminals and forced into spontaneous half-shifts they can’t control. He owes it to them to make them whole again. But danger and betrayal is closer to them than they realize. Will the two of them make it out alive as the thieves come back for a final deadly attempt at the Midas formula?

Oh my, this was so good. I was hooked from the start and loved the characters, as well as many of the secondary characters. This was an awesome story line with bits of history, lots of mystery, and suspense wondering how Tawnya and Philip will survive what’s coming. We not only worry about what their future will be, but whether they have a future at all? Grab your copy and be ready for an exciting story.
English This is a very unique, well-written shifter romance that has a sort of “beauty & the beast” undertone & I promise you it is definitely worth reading. The plot is well-paced and is filled with unexpected twists & intrigue. The characters are likable with strong-willed personalities although one of them (a male scientist & shifter, Philip Health) is often distrustful & insecure about his inner beast & tries to the best of his ability to get rid of a very attractive, intelligent young royal female shifter (Tawnya Rose Bryant) then the attractions begin to flare. The secondary characters play good supporting roles.
There is: The CEO & high alpha (Jacob Bryant aka Jake) of the Bryant wolf pack, a Midas formula, various kinds of shifters, friendship, drama, intrigue, suspense, mystery, secrets, adventure, action, deceit, betrayal, manipulations, complications, misunderstandings, danger, threats, enemies, conflict, violence, determination, surprises, love, contentment & a satisfying happy conclusion.
Romance, Paranormal, Fantasy Wow, gotta love Addision Carmichael's characters. These two made me fall in love. Beauty and the Beast Indeed. But far more enjoyable the way Ms. Carmichael has written them.

And then we have the plot. Ms. Carmichael is very aware, as you can tell by her writing, that details make the story. Without details, you're just reciting some story without a lot of development. In this case not only were the characters developed well, the plot was well written and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

Did I enjoy this book? Yes sir, Yes sir, 5 stars worth. Should you read it? I have no clue why you wouldn't WANT to read this. I'm looking forward to the next book already! And by the way, this is a new series, built on Ms. Carmichael's Alpha books. First we saw the sons, so guess what? The girls needed equal time! Read and enjoy! Something Wild (Daughters of the Alpha, #1) This is a continuation of the SONS OF THE ALPHA series, featuring the four grown daughters of the new High Alpha & Prima Alpha, Jake & Nicole Bryant. Each one can be read as a stand alone, but I think you'll have more fun if you read them in sequence. As I so often do, SOMETHING WILD follows a classic romance structure, this one being Beauty and the Beast. Of course there are lots of twists and turns and adventure, and most of all a swoon-worthy hero and sassy heroine. Hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it! Addison Carmichael

Something

True Life Mates

When Tawnya was sent to help a mysterious scientist, while waiting to take her place as Pack Alpha, she did not expect to find insight into herself.

In Addison Carmichael’s Something Wild, first in her Daughters of the Alpha series, we see that a heart can change a mind.

Addison creates characters that have depth, as they struggle with decisions they have made, with yearnings they feel, and with choices they think they must make. Something Wild is a paranormal romance that leaves us satisfied and smiling. Something Wild (Daughters of the Alpha, #1) This was an excellent story. I loved the Beauty and the Beast feel of the story, the characters were great, the entire plot was great. The pacing was good and I enjoyed seeing Phillip and Tawnya’s friendship grow. It was nice seeing old characters from previous books too. All in all, I really enjoyed this one.
